Our client, a rapidly growing general contractor, with expertise in Design & Build projects involved in sectors including social housing, education, and healthcare is now urgently looking for an experienced Estimator to be working in Buckinghamshire. As an Estimator you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates by analyzing project specifications, drawings, and other documentation. The Estimator works closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure that estimates align with project goals and budgets.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements:
Manage all the Estimating functions including tender management, post contract negotiation and management of Supplier/ Subcontractor chain.
Review project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to understand the scope of work, materials required and project constraints.
Develop detailed cost estimates for the project including materials, labor, equipment & subcontractor services.
Collaborate in the full tender process from inception to completion.
Preparation of bid prospects ready for presentation to project managers.
Prepare subcontract quotes and ensure compliance with the project specifications.
Attend meetings both internal and client based and contribute to the best of your knowledge.
Accomplish the take-offs from tender drawings.
Identify potential risks & uncertainties in project estimates, developing solutions to eliminate risks.
Keep updated on market conditions, trends & pricing for materials & labor.
Assist the estimating team in preparing quotations such as undertaking take offs, building up rates, requesting supplier and subcontractor quotations
Degree in Construction Management or relevant discipline.
Proven record of achievements as Estimator within Design & Build contracts is beneficial.
Experience in tendering projects with values from £1m - £15m is desirable.
Dedicated team player with excellent interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, and external partners.
Proven knowledge in estimating principles, practices, and technologies.
Excellent negotiation, communication, leadership & interpersonal skills.
Knowledgeable in estimating software & tools.
