Lead Construction Supervisor (Appointed Person – Lifting Operations) – Data Centre Project – Helsinki
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Construction Supervisor (Appointed Person – Lifting Operations) to oversee all lifting activities on a major data centre project located approximately 90 minutes outside Helsinki. This is a key leadership role, ensuring the safe planning, coordination, and execution of crane and lifting operations in line with local and European regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Take full responsibility for planning, supervising, and coordinating lifting operations on site.
Prepare detailed lift plans and risk assessments for all lifting activities.
Ensure lifting equipment and accessories are properly inspected, certified, and maintained.
Liaise with site management, clients, crane operators, and rigging teams to implement safe lifting practices.
Deliver briefings and toolbox talks for specific lifting operations.
Monitor and audit lifting activities to ensure adherence to approved plans.
Intervene and stop works where unsafe practices are identified, implementing corrective measures.
Maintain accurate records of lifting operations in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
Ensure full compliance with environmental, health, and safety procedures at all times.
Requirements
NPORS N401 (Appointed Person – Lifting Operations) qualification, or equivalent recognized in Finland and Europe.
Proven experience as an appointed person or lifting supervisor in construction or heavy industry.
Strong knowledge of EU and local lifting regulations and best practices.
Ability to prepare, interpret, and enforce lift plans effectively.
Excellent communication, leadership, and coordination skills.
Competent in site-based risk assessment and incident reporting.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
Desirable
Additional certifications in lifting/rigging (e.g., CPCS, LOLER, ISO standards).
Experience on international or multi-lingual projects.
First Aid or safety management training.
Familiarity with automated/remote lift monitoring systems.
