Electrical Site Manager – Major Hospital Project – Plymouth

As Electrical Site Manager, you will take ownership of the electrical installation delivery for a major hospital refurbishment and fit-out project in Plymouth. This is a pivotal role in a live healthcare environment, ensuring seamless coordination, uncompromising quality, and the safe execution of all electrical works.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee all electrical installation works from pre-construction through to commissioning and final client handover.
Review and coordinate electrical designs, including Contractor Design Portion (CDP) submissions, resolving technical queries as they arise.
Lead and manage electrical subcontractors, ensuring safe systems of work, adherence to programme, and delivery to the highest quality standards.
Chair and actively participate in MEP coordination meetings with consultants, subcontractors, and client representatives to resolve clashes and technical issues.
Ensure compliance with NHS and healthcare-specific regulations, overseeing quality assurance and validation of electrical systems.
Develop and execute commissioning strategies, witness testing, and ensure complete, accurate production of O&M manuals.
Manage post-handover activities, including seasonal commissioning, client training, and defect resolution.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to project teams and junior engineers, fostering a collaborative, solutions-focused environment.
Report regularly to project leadership on progress, risks, and resource planning.
Requirements
Proven experience delivering electrical works or full MEP packages on hospital or healthcare projects, ideally in live or occupied environments.
Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services systems: power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, integration with mechanical and specialist systems.
Expertise in managing interfaces between design, procurement, commercial, and site delivery.
Familiarity with healthcare regulations, RAMS, commissioning procedures, and close-out requirements.
Skilled in project planning software (MS Project / Asta).
Degree or trade-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
Relevant certifications: SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid.
