Senior Estimator - Limerick, Ireland
We are currently seeking a seasoned Senior Estimator to join our dynamic Estimating team at our Head Office in Limerick.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate a proactive approach, working independently while fostering a collaborative spirit within the estimating team. The role involves the production of detailed and competitive tender submissions, with a particular focus on projects ranging from €1m to €100m.
In this position, you will contribute to a highly motivated team engaged in both Design & Build and Traditional tenders across a diverse project portfolio. The Senior Estimator will play a crucial role in presenting draft tender commercial appraisals for review and approval by company directors.
Responsibilities:
- Skillfully review tender documentation (Drawings, Specifications, BOQ’s, Schedules, contracts, etc.) and manage the tender bid process from initial receipt to final submission.
- Initiate material and trade inquiries to our supply chain, securing quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Conduct comprehensive risk analysis on supplier and subcontract packages, ensuring thorough evaluation of inclusions and exclusions.
- Provide insightful analysis and evaluation of tender enquiries, flagging any concerns or suggesting value engineering details as necessary.
- Identify opportunities and gaps in tender documents to leverage commercial advantages.
- Assist in compiling submissions, including inclusions, exclusions, clarifications, and program of works.
- Maintain effective communication and reporting to senior management regarding ongoing project submissions.
Requirements:
- Proficient knowledge of subcontractors, construction outputs, and pricing for labor, plant, and materials.
- Solid understanding of data analysis methods.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Efficient management of tender documentation with timely reporting.
- Over 5 years of proven experience in an estimating role within the Irish market.
- Third-level qualification in engineering, construction, quantity surveying, or a related field.
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel, and ideally, experience with estimating software.
