Site Engineer 

Residential & Mixed-Use Development (Cork, Ireland)

Our client is a leading Irish main contractor with a turnover of approximately €500m, delivering a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, education, public sector, and civil engineering projects across Ireland and the UK.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join the delivery team on a major new build mixed-use development in Cork. The scheme comprises approximately 330 residential units, including apartments and houses, along with associated commercial, retail, and community spaces.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting site delivery through accurate setting out, engineering control, quality assurance, and coordination with site management and subcontractors. You will be involved across multiple work fronts, ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately, and in line with design and programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities
• Carry out setting out and surveying duties across all site activities
• Ensure accurate dimensional control for residential blocks, housing units, and external works
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction information
• Support site management in coordinating day-to-day construction activities
• Undertake quality assurance checks and maintain site records and as-built documentation
• Monitor works on site to ensure compliance with design and specification requirements
• Identify and report technical issues, clashes, and potential risks to the site team
• Assist in coordinating subcontractor activities and resolving on-site engineering queries
• Support short-term planning and sequencing of works where required
• Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with health & safety requirements
• Assist with site inspections, snagging, and handover processes
• Maintain accurate daily site diaries, QA records, and progress reporting

Key Requirements
• Proven experience as a Site Engineer on residential or mixed-use construction projects
• Experience working with a main contractor on large-scale developments essential
• Strong setting out and surveying skills (total station, GPS systems, etc.)
• Good understanding of construction sequencing and site coordination
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality assurance
• Good communication skills and ability to work within a site team environment
• Knowledge of health & safety requirements on construction sites
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred
