Our client is a leading international contractor specialising in the delivery of hyperscale and mission-critical data centre projects across Europe. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and complex engineering delivery, they provide full turnkey solutions from early enabling works through to commissioning and handover.
Due to continued expansion of their European portfolio, they are seeking an experienced Design Manager to oversee both CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural) and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Public Health) design coordination on a major data centre development in Helsinki.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the full design management function, ensuring all design information is fully coordinated, buildable, compliant, and aligned with construction methodology, programme requirements, and client expectations in a fast-paced mission-critical environment.
You will act as the central interface between design consultants, specialist subcontractors, site delivery teams, and client stakeholders, ensuring seamless integration of CSA and MEP design throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead overall design management across CSA and MEP disciplines on a large-scale data centre project
• Coordinate all design consultants and specialist designers to ensure fully integrated, clash-free design delivery
• Manage design development from concept through to construction issue and as-built stages
• Ensure design information is delivered in line with project programme and construction sequencing requirements
• Review and approve design submissions for compliance, buildability, and technical accuracy
• Drive coordination between CSA and MEP systems to ensure full interface integration
• Manage RFIs, technical queries, and design change control processes
• Chair design coordination meetings with consultants, subcontractors, client representatives, and internal teams
• Work closely with project management, engineering, and commercial teams to support delivery strategy
• Track and manage design deliverables, ensuring milestones are achieved
• Support value engineering, design optimisation, and risk reduction initiatives
• Ensure compliance with all relevant standards, regulations, and client technical requirements
• Support procurement and subcontractor engagement from a design coordination perspective
• Oversee BIM coordination processes and digital design integration where applicable
• Support commissioning and handover documentation related to design compliance and verification
• Proven experience as a Design Manager on large-scale construction projects
• Strong background in both CSA and MEP design coordination is essential
• Significant experience within data centre or mission-critical environments highly desirable
• Strong technical understanding of building systems, engineering coordination, and constructability
• Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants
• Excellent knowledge of construction sequencing and interface management
• Strong ability to coordinate complex technical systems across CSA and MEP disciplines
• Experience with BIM coordination processes and digital design platforms advantageous
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management
