Mechanical Engineer – Mixed Use Commercial/Retail Build – Central London

We are currently partnering with a Tier 2 Main Contractor with over 400 years of construction experience and over 50 years’ experience construction in Europe. Due to their continued growth, they are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their London arm to contribute to their further development.

Responsibilities

•    Coordination of Mechanical Services
Ensure mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, BMS, etc.) are integrated with architectural, structural, and electrical elements. Liaise with subcontractors, design teams, and consultants to resolve clashes and discrepancies.
•    Review and Interpretation of Drawings and Specifications
Analyse mechanical design drawings, specifications, and technical documents to ensure compliance with project requirements, building regulations (such as Part L and Part F), and local standards (like CIBSE guidelines).
•    Quality Assurance and Site Inspections
Monitor installation work on-site, ensuring that materials and workmanship meet specified quality standards. Carry out inspections, witness testing, and manage snagging for mechanical systems.
•    Programme and Progress Management
Assist with planning and scheduling of mechanical works to align with overall project timelines. Track progress, flag delays, and coordinate sequencing of services with other trades to avoid hold-ups.
•    Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
Ensure that mechanical installations comply with CDM regulations, site safety protocols, and environmental requirements. Conduct risk assessments and method statement (RAMS) reviews related to mechanical activities.

Requirements

Must have 3+ years’ experience in a similar role
Must be based within commutable distance of Central London
Must have UK Passport or RTW in the UK

Benefits

£40,000 - £45,000 + benefits
