Our client is a well-established civil engineering subcontractor delivering complex infrastructure and groundworks packages across Europe. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and precision, the company operates across large-scale projects including data centres, commercial developments, and critical infrastructure.
Due to continued expansion within the data centre sector, our client is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team on a major data centre project in Austria.
The successful candidate will take a senior commercial leadership role, managing cost control, contract administration, and reporting for the civil engineering scope, which includes groundworks, underground drainage, service duct installation, pile caps, ground beams, pre-cast chambers, mechanical yard slabs, and high-precision floor slabs. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will provide strategic commercial advice, support risk management, and ensure the project is delivered within budget while maintaining contractual compliance.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage all commercial aspects of the civil engineering scope on a major data centre project
• Prepare and maintain project budgets, cost plans, and forecasts, providing strategic commercial guidance to the project team
• Measure and value works-in-progress across complex civil engineering packages, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Manage subcontractor and supplier contracts, valuations, variations, and claims
• Prepare interim valuations, progress claims, and final accounts, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements
• Provide commercial input on risk mitigation, value engineering, and programme-related cost impacts
• Maintain detailed and accurate commercial records, measurement data, and site documentation
• Review and negotiate change orders, claims, and disputes with subcontractors and clients where necessary
• Collaborate closely with project management, design engineers, and site teams to ensure effective communication of commercial requirements
• Produce regular reports on costs, cash flow, and financial performance for senior management and clients
• Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors, ensuring quality and consistency of commercial processes

Requirements
• Extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering or infrastructure projects
• Strong knowledge of groundworks, drainage, structural concrete, pre-cast elements, and high-precision slabs
• Proven experience in contract administration, valuations, claims management, and commercial reporting
• Excellent understanding of cost control, measurement, and commercial risk management
• Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Excel, CAD, QS measurement software)
• Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, international project environment
