Electrical Quantity Surveyor - Billingham, United Kingdom - Pharmaceutical

We are currently seeking an Electrical Quantity Surveyor to join our team. In this role, you will closely collaborate with the project team, including engineers, BIM specialists, estimators, procurement officers, subcontractors, and clients, to ensure precise and efficient cost control, estimation, and reporting. Your responsibilities will include :

  • Collaborating closely with the estimation team to review and validate Electrical cost estimates for each project.
  • Managing cost control measures, identifying potential commercial risks, and promptly reporting them to management.
  • Conducting cost analysis and value engineering exercises to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Monitoring and tracking project costs, including variations, change orders, and progress payments, both upstream and downstream.
  • Collaborating with the estimation/BIM team to ensure accurate quantity take-offs and bills of quantities for Electrical systems and installations in each project.
  • Reviewing electrical drawings and specification revisions to ensure any changes are identified.
  • Conducting site visits and inspections to assess work progress, validate quantities, and address any discrepancies.
  • Evaluating subcontractor claims and preparing reports on quantities, rates, and payment applications.
  • Administering the contract for each project in collaboration with the project team, ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions.
  • Reviewing and analyzing contractual agreements, identifying key contractual obligations, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Managing the contractual correspondence, including change orders, claims, and dispute resolution, in coordination with the project team.
  • Collaborating with the legal/compliance team to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintaining and implementing systems for tracking labor resources and performance on Electrical works for each project.
  • Monitoring labor productivity, efficiency, and performance to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures.
  • Collaborating with project managers and site supervisors to gather labor-related data and analyze productivity trends.
  • Preparing reports on labor S/E, productivity, and performance indicators for each project individually.
  • Generating regular cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections for Electrical works.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all Electrical cost-related documents, contracts, and correspondence.
  • Preparing and presenting cost reports to project stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
  • Assisting in the preparation of final accounts and settlement of claims.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Essential third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying/Construction Economics or a related field
  • Experience as an Electrical QS on large-scale construction projects
  • Proficiency in Electrical cost control, estimation, and quantity surveying techniques
  • Strong command of relevant QS software and tools (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, Countfire, Excel)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Good organizational and time management abilities
  • Familiarity with local regulations and industry standards related to Electrical works.
