Senior Mechanical Engineer – Data Centre Design – Oslo, Norway
An established and rapidly growing engineering firm specialising in the design and delivery of high-performance data centres across Europe is seeking an experienced, innovative, and resourceful Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the team in Oslo, Norway. This is a full-time, permanent role offering exciting challenges in a dynamic, international environment.
This position provides a unique opportunity to be part of a cutting-edge design team contributing to some of the largest and most technically complex data centre projects in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
Validate that mechanical designs comply with all specifications, contracts, and industry standards.
Ensure designs meet regulatory codes and best practice guidelines across all phases of delivery.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop technical concepts and layouts.
Manage a portfolio of data centre designs, ensuring consistency and quality across projects.
Lead initiatives to enhance cost-efficiency, performance, and design standardisation.
Produce complete system designs from initial technical requirements.
Draft technical specifications, reports, and documentation.
Provide support to the bid and tender process with relevant design input.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 8 years of mechanical engineering experience, including at least 2 years working on data centre projects.
Strong background in mission-critical environments or industrial facility design.
Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
Excellent communication, documentation, and coordination skills.
Strong attention to detail and high standards of quality and precision.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Demonstrated ability to communicate design standards and technical requirements to both internal teams and external partners.
Expertise in mechanical cooling strategies, air handling, and air treatment technologies.
Solid understanding of MEP systems supporting mission-critical facilities, including:
Water treatment and plumbing systems
Electrical installations and their integration with mechanical design
Fire safety systems and their spatial and operational impact
Acoustics, structural implications, and spatial integration of mechanical systems
Positive, proactive, and team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
Familiarity with international standards for data centre design such as ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, TIA, and EN50600.
