£55,000-60,000 DOE + Package

Our company is currently recruiting an experienced Quantity Surveyor to be working in Bedfordshire office in a hybrid working setup for a leading provider of established Utilities (Gas /Water) Contractor working all over the country. As a Quantity Surveyor you will be joining in a dynamic environment and be a part of a supportive culture where your ideas and contributions are highly valued. The responsibilities for this role encompass being a collaborative team player, demonstrating willingness to learn various utility aspects, and taking ownership of a defined scope of work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a team player, displaying a willingness to learn all aspects of utility works.

  • Take ownership and responsibility for a defined scope of work.

  • Execute works and tasks diligently and professionally.

  • Measure from plan drawings and isometrics to produce fully priced detailed bills of quantities, including labour hours and material costs.

  • Track costs and labour throughout the project, monitoring Project Hours Spent vs. Earned schedule.

  • Conduct a full construction take-off, prepare construction cost plans, and track costs and labour efficiency throughout the project.

  • Present clear and coherent take-offs, understanding NRM2 requirements and procedures.

  • Provide timely and accurate CCS submissions each month.

  • Prepare timely and accurate assessments/payment certs/payless notices for sub-contractors each month, adhering to payment conditions within the Construction Act.

  • Produce timely and accurate cash flow submissions each month.

  • Ensure the final account is agreed within a specific project timeline.

  • Mitigate the Company's exposure to third-party claims.

  • Prepare subcontract packages for procurement, agree contracts, and manage through to the final account.

  • Strive to understand tasks assigned comprehensively, recognizing their importance in the overall project.

  • Research RICS competencies and actively work towards development in these areas.

  • Proactively seek guidance from the Senior QS for areas of development.

  • Focus on continuous improvement by actively seeking out opportunities to work on tasks aiding development, such as tasks not previously completed or shadowing Senior QS or other team members.

  • Request regular feedback from the senior QS regarding completed tasks.

  • Be able to do site visits when required.

Key Skills & Requirements:

  • At least 7 years' experience in a similar role. 

  • Experience working on Utilities (Gas/Water) contracts would be beneficial.

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Demonstrates exceptional presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.

  • Excellent IT skills.
