Senior Estimator – Surrey – Interior Fit Out & Refurbishment


Our client is specialist interiors Main Contractor established for over 65 years operating across London, The South East and from three international offices.


Company turnover currently stands at £115m and projects (mainly fit out & refurbishment works) are undertaken within the luxury residential, hotels / leisure, retail and museums sectors.

Individual project values range from £5m - £75m


Due to continued growth our client is now seeking a Senior Estimator to join the pre-construction team based from their Surrey head office.


Applicants should be experienced dealing with tenders from ‘cradle-to-grave’ and must be able to demonstrate extensive experience in a comparable role working on fit out and / or refurbishment projects. Applicants should have awareness of different types of contract particularly around the JCT traditional and D&B Forms. This role will involve a high level of client interface so applicants must have strong client facing skills

Standard duties will include;


  • Review all the tender documents received, having a clear understanding of what is required for the tender. Including a clear understanding of the client’s key drivers and requirements for the bid and have the ability to liaise with senior management to develop the bid strategy.
  • Identify key project elements including potential risks.
  • Prepare and send out sub-contractor and supplier enquiries. Track progress and analyse on return, including rationalisation of clarification and terms and conditions, to ensure best prices are received.
  • Prepare Bills of Quantity from drawings and raise technical queries with the Client where appropriate.
  • Administering the estimate documents during the tender process.
  • Prepare accurate take-offs using computerised systems.
  • Take ownership of the pricing document ensuring that it is accurately completed including applying final margin once agreed with senior management.
  • Building up rates for work items on an analytic basis.
  • Liaising with architects, designers, surveyors and clients regarding tender queries.
  • Attend client meetings and post tender reviews.
  • Prepare budgets and cost plans.


Salary is negotiable depending on level of experience and previous success in a comparable role, supplemented with a full salary package including car / car allowance, pension. Healthcare and bonus system
