Site Manager – Modular Build, Essex

 

Our client is an award winning Specialist Contractor based in the City of London, with a turnover of over £50m. This contractor undertake Design & Build modular construction schemes, primarily within the education and residential sectors.

 

Due to continued growth our client is now seeking a Site Manager to join the delivery team initially on a modular new build school scheme based in Dagenham. This is a £15m scheme and will include Bathroom pods and Classrooms

 

As a Site Manager, you will assist the Senior Site Manager in the smooth and safe day-to-day running of a site, being the first point of contact for all site management issues.

 

Some of the key responsibilities include

  • Demonstrate great Health & Safety stewardship, leading the Health and Safety agenda on site and exercising the stop work authority if safety standards are compromised
  • Assist the Senior Site Manager with onsite construction and monitor compliance with building and safety regulations
  • Ensure quality control checks and inspections are carried out
  • Co-ordinate and supervise construction workers including induction for new workers, issuing permits etc
  • Manage site HSE processes and performance
  • Maintain quality control procedures and ensure they are always followed
  • Ensure site safety by making daily safety inspections
  • Solve problems in a timely fashion
  • Source materials as required
  • Monitor and report regularly to the Senior Site Manager on the progress of a project
  • Manage soft landings plan
  • Manage testing, commissioning, and inspection programme
  • Carry out evaluation and lessons learned to inform best future practice

 

The ideal candidate must have a minimum 2- 3 years’ experience in a similar role, taking responsibility for proactively resolving issues on site, and must have some Modular build experience. Applicants should have strong communication skills, have experience of managing sub-contractors and be able to build relationships and resolve conflict.  An understanding of BIM process as it relates to on site functions would be a significant advantage. This role will require current CSCS, First Aid & SMSTS certificates
