With a turnover of circa £75m, they operate with the agility of a smaller business but deliver with the consistency and professionalism of a tier-one contractor. Their portfolio includes Education, Commercial, Health, Heritage, Residential, and Leisure projects with values between £1m - £25m Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to supplement their commercial team based at their East London head office The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will work alongside experienced commercial staff, supporting the management of subcontractor accounts, assisting in cost control and reporting across multiple live projects. A key element of the role is the ability to remeasure subcontractor works accurately and a strong foundational understanding of construction methodology and building processes. Responsibilities will include Candidate Profile 1–5 years' experience in a quantity surveying role, ideally with a main contractor This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Assistant QS to gain further experience and real commercial responsibility in a business where their development will be genuinely supported. Salary is negotiable and very much dependent on experience
Support the management and administration of subcontractor accounts, including remeasurement and valuation
Assist in procurement, contract negotiation, and change management
Help monitor project costs and variations, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting
Collaborate with site teams to track progress and ensure alignment with commercial objectives
Prepare interim payments and support in final account agreement
Maintain awareness of contract requirements and risk factors
Solid understanding of construction techniques and how buildings are put together
Proficient in remeasuring subcontractor works and interpreting drawings/specifications
Degree qualified or working towards a relevant construction/commercial qualification
Strong communication, numerical, and organisational skills
Enthusiastic, reliable, and keen to grow within a supportive team environment
