This is a Senior QS role and is specifically project based, reporting to a Commercial lead.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • As a member of the commercial team, the Senior Project Quantity Surveyor will be tasked with administering the contract obligations and meet additional Client requirements.

 

  • In conjunction with your project team, you will be responsible for the execution of various stages of a project as follows:

Duties

 

  • To undertake and manage interim commercial meetings with the Client and Internal Project Team. Report in detail as required for the Project Manager on the commercial status of the project.
  • To manage subcontractor accounts, interim valuations and final accounts.
  • To ensure payment certificates are processed and payments are made per the agreed sub-contract and procurement terms.
  • To issue interim and final accounts and progress applications per project and contract requirements. Monthly applications to be all inclusive of accurate remeasures, site changes, dayworks and any applicable contract claims.
  • To identify escalations, material or labour, as appropriate.
  • To ensure close collaboration with Planning Engineer regarding accuracy of progress reporting.
  • To maintain accurate records and provide necessary detailed backup to support commercial tracking and costing.
  • To understand contract obligations and any other undertakings to the client and the structure and form of interim and final claims.
  • To ensure that claims are then formulated in line with these constraints.
  • To ensure that claims issued are comprehensive in that all work undertaken has been included under the appropriate categorization, i.e., day works, unit rate work, contract work. Identify escalations, material or labour, as appropriate.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Must have a practical understanding of scheduling and the associated commercial implications.
  • The ability to identify potential commercial risks and ensure prompt reporting of same to Senior Management.
  • Skilled in budgeting, reporting, developing BOQ’s, profit plans etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar essential
  • At least 10 years’ industry experience.
  • Experience in effectively managing teams is essential.
