Our client is an established package contractor active on a number of projects across Mainland Europe.

 

This organisation is currently delivering sizeable sub-contract packages including, concrete flooring, roofing, external envelope & partitioning, ceilings and general Interior fit-out packages, primarily on large-scale data centre & pharmaceutical schemes

 

Due to continued growth and expansion our client is now seeking an experienced Senior Technical Buyer to join the commercial team based at their Bedfordshire headquarters

Responsibilities To Include:

  • Provide prices for all materials required for the relevant AC Plc projects plans and drawings.
  • Apply experience and knowledge of the industry to source potential suppliers and new products.
  • Contact suppliers and sub-contractors to obtain quotations.
  • Negotiate and agree delivery times to meet client expectations and ensure efficiency onsite.
  • Review the supplier listing on a regular basis.
  • Liaise with the Estimating Department within the tendering stage to ensure accurate costing.
  • Respond effectively to supplier challenges and external influences which may affect the flow and delivery of materials to site.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities to ensure the buying process is streamlined and responsive to meet the project requirements.
  • Provide advice to the relevant Project Estimator on predicated costs for materials.
  • Train and coach junior members of the department as required, acting as a source of knowledge and onboarding mentor for new starters within the team.
  • Ensure compliance with HSEQ requirements of materials and services.
  • Regularly communicate with the relevant Project Director / Project Lead to ensure deadlines and expectations are met.
  • Maintain knowledge of export/import control legislation.
  • Monitor market trends and supply chain strategies.
  • Co-ordinate materials across sites to avoid double stocking and adverse purchasing variations.

 

Previous Experience Required:

Knowledge and understanding of the buying process and the ordering of construction materials.

Previous experience within a buying role.

Proven history of supplier contract management.

Experience using internal costing management systems.

Graduate level or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline OR relevant experience and qualifications (industry specific).

CIPS Qualifications (or studying towards)
