Location: Watford Salary: £65k + car and package

Contracts Manager -  Specialist sub-contractor (cladding)


My client is a sub-contractor specialising in the design, supply and installation of cladding and are seeking a highly motivated, committed, positive and collaborative individual to join our expanding team. The Contracts Manager will report directly to the General Manager and sit on our management team.

It is essential you have a passion for continuous improvement, together with the excellent interpersonal and communication skills required to successfully undertake this senior and influential role. You will line manage a small but busy team of Project Managers and assistants enabling them to deliver multiple project portfolios to our customers – mainly contractors and developers in the new-build residential and other construction markets.

You will need to focus on supporting the Project Managers to deliver numerous projects within tight deadlines, contractual constraints, and budgets to ensure we meet customer expectations. You will take responsibility for allocating projects, senior level reporting and the development of your team empowering them to deliver great customer service, continuous improvement of processes, performance indicators and supply chain management.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • •A minimum of five years’ contracts management experience within a construction-based environment, including contractual and commercial negotiations
  • •The line management of a multi-disciplined team within a complex environment
  • •Project Management Qualification desirable
  • •CSCS card
  • •Driving Licence


Key Responsibilities:

  • •Line manage a small but busy team of Project Managers and assistants
  • •Manage a portfolio of contracts up to a combined value of £10M
  • •Undertake compliance checks on contracts at bid stage to manage our contractual risk
  • •Monitor the progress, spend and performance reporting of contracts, monitoring performance plans to maximising profit on each project
  • •Proactively monitor and mitigate risks associated with the company contract portfolio
  • •Allocation of resource and assistance in the Contracts Team
  • •Implementation and support of a training plan for our installation teams
  • •Managing formal disputes
  • •Review financial standing of suppliers on an ongoing basis and manage any resulting actions
  • •Ad hoc support to high-profile projects
  • •Developing and using an on-site quality assurance system



  • •Experience of contract management in a sub-contracting business
  • •Analytical, commercial, and negotiating skills

  • •Ability to manage contract risk and understanding of different forms of contract and risk allocation
  • •Strong understanding of Project Management methodologies and the ability to coach othersin these methodologies
