Mechanical Lead – Hyperscale Data Centre Project – Sweden
A market-leading international contractor delivering complex, mission-critical facilities across Europe is seeking a Mechanical Lead to join its delivery team on a major hyperscale data centre project in Sweden.
This is a senior site-based position, reporting to the MEP Construction Manager, and will be responsible for leading mechanical delivery, from installation through commissioning, across high-value mechanical systems including BAS/BMS, HVAC, and critical cooling infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead all mechanical works on-site, ensuring compliance with specifications, safety standards, and programme milestones.
Promote a zero-harm safety culture, ensuring all activities are risk assessed and that Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures are understood and implemented.
Coordinate with CSA, MEP, and commissioning teams to meet Advanced Beneficial Use (ABU) milestones for key spaces.
Monitor installation progress and quality for mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water, pipework, containment, and mechanical plant.
Support development and execution of Commissioning Implementation Plans (CIPs) specific to mechanical works.
Oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring adequate manpower, sequencing, and delivery in line with the master construction programme.
Conduct regular site inspections, chair coordination meetings, and liaise directly with vendors, design teams, and construction managers.
Track site progress, manage issue resolution, and escalate risks or resource shortfalls as required.
Ensure the handover documentation, QA/QC records, and field turnover packs are fully in place.
Maintain and issue weekly progress reports, cost updates, and manpower tracking summaries.
Candidate Profile:
Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline; trade background also considered.
Minimum 3+ years' experience in a site-based mechanical or MEP role.
Experience in hyperscale data centres or large-scale MEP infrastructure projects is essential.
Strong leadership and coordination skills with the ability to drive performance across multiple stakeholders.
Excellent knowledge of mechanical system installation, QA processes, and commissioning requirements.
Comfortable chairing meetings, managing subcontractors, and reporting progress to senior project teams.
Highly organised with strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
Fluent English essential; additional European languages advantageous.
