Mechanical Commissioning Engineer Data Centre Construction – Sweden Due to continued expansion, the requirement now exists for an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to join the project team delivering a €500m+ Data Centre in Sweden. Key Responsibilities In Return, Our Client Offers
Our client is an established engineering & construction main contractor delivering new build data centre schemes across Northern & Central Europe. This organisation provides a full turnkey solution, constructing these facilities from the initial design phase through groundworks, structural build, M&E installation, fit-out, and final handover. Company turnover is currently €1.3bn, with continued growth of 10%–15% year-on-year.
The Mechanical Commissioning Engineer will play a critical role in executing and verifying the commissioning of mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled water, pumps, and cooling infrastructure. This position is pivotal in ensuring all mechanical systems operate safely, efficiently, and in line with design and client requirements, supporting the successful handover of mission-critical facilities.
The successful candidate will work closely with project management, commissioning leads, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure all mechanical systems are tested, documented, and handed over in full compliance with technical and safety standards.
• Execute commissioning, testing, and verification of mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled water, pumps, and cooling plant
• Develop and follow commissioning plans, sequences, and procedures in line with project specifications
• Coordinate with electrical and controls commissioning teams to ensure integrated system operation
• Support installation inspections and FAT/SAT testing for mechanical equipment
• Monitor system performance, identify deficiencies, and implement corrective actions
• Maintain accurate commissioning records, as-built documentation, and test certificates
• Liaise with client representatives to provide updates and technical guidance on mechanical systems
• Ensure compliance with health & safety standards, site procedures, and statutory regulations
• Contribute to the preparation of handover documentation and operational manuals
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving mechanical system issues during commissioning
