Civil Engineering Lead

Our client is an established engineering & construction main contractor delivering new build data centre schemes across Northern & Central Europe. This organisation provides a full turnkey solution, constructing these facilities from the initial design phase through groundworks, structural build, M&E installation, fit-out, and final handover. Company turnover is currently €1.3bn, with continued growth of 10%–15% year-on-year.
Due to continued expansion, the requirement now exists for an experienced Civil Engineering Lead to join the project team delivering a €600m+ hyperscale Data Centre in Finland.
The Civil Engineering Lead will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing all civil and structural engineering works on site, ensuring that the delivery of foundations, slabs, structural frames, drainage, and associated civil infrastructure is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and programme milestones. The successful candidate will work closely with project management, design teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure the highest quality standards are maintained across all civil activities.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage all civil engineering works across the project site, including foundations, slabs, structural frames, drainage, and external works
• Coordinate with project management, MEP, and architectural teams to ensure seamless integration of civil works with other disciplines
• Review and approve method statements, risk assessments, and technical submissions from subcontractors
• Monitor construction progress against the project programme and implement corrective actions to mitigate delays
• Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations
• Provide technical guidance and support to site engineers, foremen, and subcontractors
• Ensure adherence to statutory regulations, industry standards, and company procedures for all civil works
• Support the planning and sequencing of civil works to enable efficient handover to subsequent construction and commissioning phases
• Maintain accurate records of site activities, inspections, and quality checks
• Participate in project coordination meetings and provide civil engineering input to support problem-solving and risk management
• Promote a strong safety culture across all civil works on site
