We’re seeking an experienced Site Manager to take ownership of a live battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Northamptonshire for a well-established MEP-led contractor delivering critical infrastructure across the UK.
This is a freelance opportunity suited to a proactive, hands-on Site Manager with a background in energy, civils, or MEP-heavy projects. You’ll be responsible for site supervision, health & safety, programme delivery, and stakeholder coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day site activity, coordinating all trades and subcontractors to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality project delivery.
Work to the construction programme, maintaining momentum on-site and addressing any issues that could impact delivery.
Deliver site inductions, manage RAMS, conduct daily briefings, and ensure full compliance with safety regulations and internal procedures.
Uphold the highest standards of workmanship and compliance. Oversee inspections, testing, and documentation to ensure all works meet project and regulatory standards.
Be the key on-site point of contact, maintaining communication with the main contractor, client, and consultant teams to ensure alignment and progress.
Candidate Requirements:
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Site Manager in MEP, energy, civils, or industrial projects
Familiarity with battery storage, renewables, or power infrastructure is a plus
Strong understanding of site safety, sequencing, and quality control
SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid certifications are essential
Excellent organisational and communication skills
