As part of their continued expansion across mainland Europe, the company is now seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager / Project Commercial Director to lead the commercial function on a new-build hyperscale data centre project in Portugal.
This is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for the project’s commercial strategy, financial performance, and contractual compliance. The successful candidate will provide strategic guidance to the commercial team, ensure robust cost management, and act as the key commercial interface between the client, supply chain, and project leadership.
Lead all commercial and contractual aspects of the data centre project, from pre-construction through to final account.
Develop and implement the project’s commercial strategy, ensuring alignment with company objectives and client expectations.
Oversee procurement, tendering, and subcontractor negotiations to secure best value and manage risk.
Manage and mentor the project commercial team, ensuring consistent delivery of commercial excellence.
Provide accurate financial forecasting, reporting, and cost control to maintain budgetary integrity.
Advise on contract terms and manage change control, claims, and dispute resolution processes.
Act as the primary commercial contact for the client and senior stakeholders, maintaining strong relationships and clear communication.
Ensure compliance with company governance, commercial policies, and legal obligations.
Proven experience as a Senior Commercial Manager, Commercial Lead, or Project Commercial Director on major construction projects — ideally within the data centre or high-tech industrial sectors.
Strong knowledge of major contract forms (NEC, FIDIC, or similar).
Demonstrated ability to lead commercial teams and manage projects exceeding €100m in value.
Excellent negotiation, analytical, and leadership skills.
Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.
Previous experience delivering major projects across Europe is highly desirable.
