MEP Project Leader

Our client is a €1bn turnover Tier 1 main contractor operating across the UK, Ireland, and Europe. They deliver major, complex construction projects with a particular emphasis on Data Centres, Distribution Centres, and large-scale commercial builds.

Role Overview:
As part of their ongoing expansion across mainland Europe, the company is now seeking an experienced MEP Project Leader to join their delivery team on a new-build hyperscale data centre project in Portugal.
This is a key site-based role responsible for the coordination, management, and successful delivery of all Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health systems from early design through to commissioning and handover. The successful candidate will play a central role in ensuring technical excellence, programme compliance, and seamless integration of all MEP works throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead the coordination, installation, and delivery of all MEP systems across the project.
Manage the interface between design development, MEP subcontractors, and site operations.
Oversee technical reviews, constructability assessments, and installation methodologies.
Monitor MEP progress against programme, identifying risks, constraints, and opportunities.
Ensure all systems are installed to the required quality, safety, and compliance standards.
Drive commissioning readiness, testing protocols, and final system integration.
Chair MEP coordination meetings and provide regular updates to the Project Director.
Collaborate closely with design consultants, client representatives, and specialist suppliers.
Support procurement of major MEP packages, including scope definition and technical evaluation.

Key Requirements:
Proven experience delivering MEP systems on large-scale construction projects, ideally data centres, advanced industrial facilities, or similar mission-critical builds.
Strong understanding of MEP design, coordination, and commissioning processes.
Familiarity with complex mechanical and electrical systems such as cooling, power distribution, fire protection, and controls.
Ability to manage multiple packages and subcontractors in a fast-paced technical environment.
Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
Relevant technical degree or engineering background (Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services, etc.).
Previous experience working on major European projects is highly desirable.
