We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to oversee the full mechanical scope of works on a major data centre project in Sintra, Portugal. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to drive project delivery across engineering, installation, quality, safety, and commercial functions.
 

You will manage multidisciplinary teams, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure mechanical systems are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme, and to the highest quality standards.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all mechanical works in line with project specifications, budgets, and schedules
  • Track and manage key milestones to prevent delays and maintain programme integrity
  • Review and assess construction proposals, scope documents, and cost inputs
  • Lead, mentor, and support engineers, supervisors, foremen, and package managers
  • Engage directly with clients and stakeholders to ensure alignment on deliverables
  • Coordinate with design teams and subcontractors to manage scope, progress, and timelines
  • Implement daily and weekly work planning to optimise productivity and site performance
  • Oversee subcontractor progress, manpower levels, and quality of installation
  • Coordinate mechanical activities with other subcontractors in shared work areas
  • Prepare comprehensive weekly project reports, including:
    • Incident / accident reports
    • Schedule progress (planned vs. actual)
    • 12-week lookahead
    • Procurement / long-lead item forecasts
    • Variation logs
    • Risk and delay notifications
  • Consolidate supervisor reports to track achievements, risks, and material status
  • Conduct weekly commercial meetings to ensure all variations and costs are captured
  • Promote a strong QHSE culture, ensuring safe systems of work and high-quality standards
  • Manage change control processes, including cost and programme impact assessments
  • Maintain and improve company procedures alongside package managers

Requirements

  • Strong experience delivering mechanical scopes on large-scale or mission-critical construction projects
  • Proven leadership managing multidisciplinary engineering and site teams
  • Ability to manage budgets, schedules, technical coordination, and contractor performance
  • Strong understanding of mechanical installation methodologies and MEP integration
  • Excellent communication, planning, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with data centre, industrial, or high-tech projects is highly desirable
