Mechanical Package Manager Data Centre Project, Cologne, Germany Our client is a leading engineering and construction main contractor delivering major new-build data centre projects across Northern and Central Europe. They provide full turnkey solutions from initial design and groundworks through to structural build, MEP installation, commissioning and handover. With a turnover of €1.3bn and annual growth of 10–15%, they continue to expand across the region. Key responsibilities include: The ideal candidate will hold a degree or technical qualification in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering, or have a strong mechanical trade background. They will have at least 5–7 years of experience managing mechanical packages on large-scale or mission-critical projects, ideally within the data centre sector. A competitive salary is offered along with bonus, allowances and an international assignment package suitable for candidates on rotation or relocating to Cologne.
They are now seeking an experienced Mechanical Package Manager to manage the mechanical scope on a €500m+ hyperscale data centre project in Cologne, Germany
• Managing the full mechanical package from design coordination and procurement through installation, testing and commissioning
• Overseeing mechanical subcontractors, ensuring work progresses in line with programme milestones and quality standards
• Ensuring all mechanical works are executed safely and in accordance with company Health and Safety policies
• Reviewing mechanical drawings, specifications and submittals to ensure technical compliance and resolve design or coordination issues
• Monitoring installation of key mechanical systems such as HVAC, chilled water, CRAC/CRAH units, fuel systems, fire protection, and other mission-critical mechanical infrastructure
• Chairing package meetings with subcontractors, consultants and internal project teams
• Managing material and equipment procurement, tracking lead times and ensuring timely delivery to site
• Identifying interface issues, programme risks and sequencing challenges, and working with planning and site teams to maintain schedule alignment
• Supporting commissioning teams and ensuring mechanical systems are technically ready for testing and handover
• Producing regular progress reports, cost updates and package status summaries for senior management
