Major Data Centre Project — Main Contractor, Portugal

A leading main contractor delivering large scale, mission critical facilities across Europe is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer to join the team on a flagship data centre project in Portugal. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a high value, high tech build with a contractor known for delivering some of the most advanced data centres in the region.

The Role
As Mechanical Engineer, you’ll support the delivery of all mechanical systems across the project, ensuring design compliance, installation quality, and coordination with the wider MEP and construction teams. You’ll work closely with subcontractors, design consultants, commissioning teams and client representatives to keep the project progressing safely, efficiently, and to exacting standards.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist in managing and coordinating all mechanical works on site, including HVAC, chilled water, fire protection, and other mechanical systems
• Review and comment on mechanical drawings, technical submittals and design documentation
• Support mechanical installation, testing, balancing and commissioning activities
• Ensure works comply with project specifications, standards, and QA procedures
• Work closely with electrical, civil, architectural and MEP teams to maintain coordination
• Monitor progress, report risks, and help drive programme performance
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and client engineers
• Support creation of handover documentation and commissioning reports

What We’re Looking For
• Experience as a Mechanical Engineer on large construction or MEP projects
• Background in data centres, industrial or mission critical environments is highly advantageous
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, cooling infrastructure, plant equipment), distribution, testing and commissioning
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and schematics
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Willingness to work full time in Portugal (relocation support typically provided)
