Freelance Planner – Data Centre Projects (1 Day per Week, Fully Remote)

Location: London (remote, with occasional site touchpoints if required)
Rate: £550–£650 per day  + Outside IR35
Contract:
Long-term, part-time (1 day per week)

A leading UK technology and digital-infrastructure provider—known for delivering ultra-secure colocation facilities and high-performance cloud environments—is seeking an experienced Freelance Planner to support ongoing data centre development and upgrade programmes. The business is recognised for its technical excellence, stability, and long-term investment in mission-critical assets.

This is an ideal role for a seasoned planner who wants a high-impact, low-frequency engagement, supporting a sophisticated engineering organisation while maintaining full flexibility.

You’ll act as the planning specialist for live and upcoming data centre projects, providing clear programme visibility and supporting project delivery teams with accurate forecasting and sequencing.
This is a 1-day-per-week remote role, perfect for an experienced planner balancing multiple projects or seeking a portfolio-style working arrangement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules for data centre construction, upgrade, and infrastructure works.
  • Provide programme reporting, progress tracking, and critical-path analysis.
  • Advise project managers and engineering leads on sequencing, risks, constraints, and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure planning data is accurate, timely, and aligned with wider business objectives.
  • Contribute to planning governance and best-practice processes within a highly technical environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience planning data centre projects (construction, MEP, commissioning, or technical fit-out).
  • Strong proficiency with P6, MS Project, or similar planning tools.
  • Ability to work autonomously and deliver high-quality outputs with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills—comfortable translating complex engineering detail into clear programme insight.
  • UK-based and available 1 day per week on a long-term basis.

Why Join?

  • Work with a highly respected operator in the digital-infrastructure sector.
  • Long-term, stable contract with consistent weekly engagement.
  • 100% remote, minimal time commitment, maximum impact.
  • Be part of major data centre programmes supporting the UK’s most secure and innovative environments.
