Energy Marshall Data Centre Construction – Finland Key Responsibilities In Return, Our Client Offers
Our client is an established engineering & construction main contractor delivering new build data centre schemes across Northern & Central Europe. This organisation provides a full turnkey solution, constructing these facilities from the initial design phase through groundworks, structural build, M&E installation, fit-out, and final handover. Company turnover is currently €1.3bn, with continued growth of 10%–15% year-on-year.
Due to continued expansion, the requirement now exists for an experienced Energy Marshall to join the project team delivering a €600m+ hyperscale Data Centre in Finland.
The Energy Marshall will play a critical role in overseeing and coordinating all energy isolation, energisation, and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures on site. This role ensures that all works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with project protocols and statutory regulations, particularly during the commissioning and energisation phases of mission-critical electrical systems.
Working closely with project management, commissioning teams, subcontractors, and client representatives, the successful candidate will act as the site authority for energy control, managing risk and ensuring safe energisation sequencing across the project.
• Manage and control all site energy isolation and energisation activities in line with project-specific LOTO procedures
• Review and approve method statements and risk assessments relating to energised systems
• Coordinate with commissioning teams to ensure safe sequencing of system energisation
• Maintain the site Energy Control Plan and associated documentation
• Chair and lead daily/weekly energisation planning meetings
• Audit subcontractor compliance with energy safety procedures and permit-to-work systems
• Ensure accurate recording and tracking of isolations, permits, and switching schedules
• Provide technical guidance on electrical and mechanical energy control risks
• Support incident investigations relating to energy breaches or near misses
• Promote a strong safety culture across all teams, ensuring best practice is consistently applied
• Liaise with client representatives regarding energisation strategy and compliance
