Design Manager – Data Centre – Amsterdam, Netherlands

Our client is a dedicated Data Centre Construction company providing turnkey solutions to our clients, headquartered in Dublin and delivering throughout Europe. As an engineering-focused organisation, they have grown to become one of the leading and most trusted companies in our sector. We are currently constructing multiple Turnkey Data Centre Projects across Europe, equating to over 500 MW of IT load in flight.
We are pleased to announce that we are currently seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team. This position will be based on-site in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Responsibilities

Design Coordination & Interface Management
Lead and coordinate all design activities across architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning disciplines, ensuring full alignment with the project’s technical requirements and client standards.
Design Review & Quality Assurance
Review design drawings, specifications, and technical submittals to ensure accuracy, buildability, compliance with Dutch and EU regulations, and integration with data centre operational requirements.
Consultant & Subcontractor Management
Manage external design consultants and specialist subcontractors, driving timely delivery of design packages, resolving technical issues, and ensuring all parties work to the latest project information.
Design Programme Control & Change Management
Monitor design progress against programme, identify risks or delays, coordinate design changes, manage RFIs, and support the commercial team with technical input for variations and change control.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
Liaise with the client, project management team, and commissioning teams to ensure design intent is fully understood, all design deliverables meet project milestones, and technical decisions are clearly communicated and documented.

Requirements

Must have relevant degree level qualifications
Must have 10+ years’ experience in a similar role on large scale construction projects (preferably Data Centres)
