We are seeking an experienced Authorised Person (AP) to join a leading European contractor delivering mission-critical data centre projects across the continent. This is an exceptional opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the safe operation, testing, and commissioning of high-voltage electrical systems on one of Europe’s most advanced data centre builds.
 

You’ll work closely with the Lead Appointed Person and project management team to enforce electrical safety systems, issue and control permits, and support commissioning and energisation activities across the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and enforce the Electrical Safe Systems of Work (ESSW) under the direction of the Lead Appointed Person.
• Issue and control permits-to-work for all energised electrical activities.
• Ensure all personnel understand and comply with safe working procedures.
• Conduct reviews of switchgear distribution topology and electrical protection systems.
• Oversee lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and safety documentation.
• Liaise with testing and commissioning specialists to coordinate testing sequences and ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with control system teams (SCADA/BMS/EMS) to manage the handover and permit protocols.
• Ensure all works adhere to high-voltage safety rules and project-specific standards.

Skills & Qualifications

• Degree or trade qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience in electrical contracting on industrial, commercial, or data centre projects.
• Previous Authorised Person (AP) or Appointed Person experience — ideally with MV/HV switching responsibilities.
• HV Switching Certification / S1 or S2 level qualification preferred.
• Strong technical understanding of electrical testing, fault protection, and safety protocols.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Process-driven, with a focus on EHS and quality management systems.
