Our client is a €2bn turnover, Tier:1 main contractor operating across the UK, Ireland & Europe. They undertake major, complex schemes with a particular emphasis on Data Centres, Pharmaceutical and Life Science projects Due to continued growth in the region of their Data Centre division, our client is now seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their European Data Centre team based in Dusseldorf, Germany This role will sit within their team that undertakes retrofits and upgrades to existing data centre facilities. As part of the commercial team, you will be involved in the full spectrum of cost management, contract administration, and supplier coordination. This role demands a proactive approach to managing change, monitoring project finances, and liaising with both internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: We’re looking for a commercially aware, detail-driven professional with a solid background in quantity surveying or engineering with strong cost control exposure. • Review project contract documentation to gain a full understanding of scope and obligations.
• Evaluate incoming quotations and tender returns from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Draft and issue formal subcontract and supply chain agreements.
• Track scope changes and prepare corresponding variation pricing.
• Prepare and negotiate monthly interim payment applications with the client.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, ensuring commercial and contractual compliance throughout.
• Issue formal contractual notices and assess claims related to loss, expense, or acceleration.
• Produce accurate, timely, and commercially competitive cost estimates.
• Compile monthly commercial reports, tracking financial status and forecasting trends.
• Provide risk data and commercial analysis to support project and senior management.
• Monitor, manage, and project cash flow requirements across the lifecycle of the project.
• Coordinate with clients, main contractors, and internal teams (design, procurement, delivery).
• Perform any other duties related to the successful delivery of the commercial function.
• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field—or possess equivalent industry experience.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a QS or commercial engineering role, ideally on large-scale projects.
• Broad understanding of subcontracting practices and contract administration.
• Background in CSA (Civil, Structural, Architectural) and/or MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) disciplines is desirable.
• Confident working with numbers and interpreting financial data.
• Capable negotiator, able to engage professionally with clients and subcontractors.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with SAP or other financial systems is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all commercial documentation.
