Senior Procurement Manager Sector: Data Centre / Construction The Role Requirements What’s on Offer This is a rare opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to take ownership of the full procurement function on one of Europe’s largest and most high-profile data centre projects.
Our client is a leading multi-disciplined main contractor operating across the UK and Europe with a turnover of €750m and sustained annual growth of 5–7.5%. They deliver large-scale, turnkey projects for blue-chip clients, with a strong focus on data centres and other mission-critical facilities.
Following a recent major project win, our client is seeking a Senior Procurement Manager to join the team on a mega data centre project in Portugal. This is a senior leadership role responsible for managing the full procurement function, ensuring timely, cost-effective sourcing of materials, equipment, and subcontractors for this high-profile project.
Reporting to the Commercial / Project Director, the Senior Procurement Manager will oversee all procurement activities for the project. Key responsibilities include:
• Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet project cost, quality, and schedule targets
• Source, negotiate, and manage contracts with suppliers and subcontractors for materials, plant, and services
• Manage pre-qualification, tendering, and bid evaluation processes
• Collaborate closely with commercial, design, and construction teams to ensure procurement aligns with project requirements
• Track procurement schedules and ensure timely delivery of materials to site
• Monitor supplier performance, manage risks, and resolve supply chain issues
• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
• Support cost control, reporting, and value engineering initiatives
• Ensure compliance with corporate procurement policies, legal requirements, and quality standards
• Degree-qualified in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, or a related discipline
• Extensive experience in procurement management on large-scale, technically complex construction projects, ideally in data centres, industrial, or mission-critical facilities
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, contract management, and supplier negotiation
• Proven ability to lead a procurement team and manage multi-million euro contracts
• Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to support project cost control
• Fluency in English; additional European languages (Portuguese) advantageous
• Willingness to be site-based in Portugal
