Senior Engineer – Data Centres – Portugal

We are currently partnering with a globally present Main Contractor who specialise in Industrial, Data Centre, Pharmaceutical and advanced manufacturing projects. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Senior Engineer to join their Civil Engineering team in Portugal.

Responsibilities

•   Structural Engineering Leadership for Mission-Critical Infrastructure
Lead the structural and civil engineering scope for reinforced concrete, foundations, underground utilities, and heavy civil works, ensuring all designs and installations meet the technical demands of a mission-critical data centre environment in Portugal.
•   Quality Control of Concrete & Structural Works
Oversee on-site structural activities — including pours, rebar installation, tolerance checks, and structural frame construction — ensuring all works meet strict QA/QC requirements, international standards, and data centre-specific specifications.
•   Coordination with MEP, Fit-Out & Commissioning Teams
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure structural and civil works integrate seamlessly with MEP plant rooms, containment routes, equipment bases, and critical infrastructure foundations essential for data centre performance.
•   Programme Management & Progress Reporting
Monitor progress of structural and civil packages against programme milestones, identify risks or delays affecting critical paths, and provide detailed technical and progress reports to project management, ensuring alignment with fast-track data centre schedules.
•   Compliance, Safety & Technical Risk Mitigation
Ensure all structural and civil works comply with Portuguese regulations, international data centre standards, and site safety protocols, while identifying engineering risks early and implementing mitigation strategies to protect project delivery and uptime requirements.

Requirements

Must have 10+ years’ experience in a similar role on large-scale construction projects (preferably Data Centres)
Must have relevant degree level qualifications
Must have EU Passport or RTW in Portugal
