Our client is a large and well-established MEP Sub-Contractor operating across the UK, Ireland & Europe. They undertake major Mechanical & Electrical Packages on behalf of Tier:1 main contractors involved in large, complex projects including Commercial, Data Centres, Pharmaceutical and heavy industrial projects. Our client is now seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Manager / Lead Commissioning Manager to join the team delivering a major commercial and mixed-use development in Central London The Commissioning Lead will oversee and coordinate all commissioning activities on-site, including those performed by subcontractors and direct labour. This role is critical in ensuring that all systems are inspected, tested, and commissioned in line with project specifications, industry standards, and company values. • Lead and manage the full commissioning process, delivering operational M&E systems to clients.
• Develop and implement commissioning procedures and methods in accordance with project requirements.
• Coordinate seamlessly with subcontractors and other trades to ensure efficient commissioning workflows.
• Attend project meetings with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to provide technical support and updates.
• Identify and manage the use of necessary test equipment.
• Support ITCA (Inspection, Testing, Commissioning & Acceptance) activities, maintaining and updating project trackers.
• Assist Project Engineers in compiling handover packs, QA/QC documentation, inspections, and investigation reports.
• Oversee and witness subcontractor testing and commissioning activities; review related documentation.
• Contribute to the preparation and review of Commissioning and Testing Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS).
• Support the production of ‘as-built’ documentation and the Health & Safety File.
• Conduct quality inspections during pre-commissioning and commissioning phases.
• Resolve issues promptly, ensuring all deficiencies are corrected efficiently and to standard.
• Maintain comprehensive commissioning reports and communicate progress to stakeholders, including clients, engineers, and architects.
• Support the Project Manager in ensuring the team follows company policies and procedures.
• Lead disciplinary or grievance procedures when necessary, in partnership with HR.
• Verify that all commissioning personnel are adequately trained and competent for the tasks required.
• Promote and ensure a culture of health, safety, and quality on site.
• In-depth knowledge of the commissioning process and associated leadership responsibilities.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery.
• Solid knowledge of Health, Safety & Environmental systems and practices.
• Awareness of team strengths, weaknesses, and development needs.
