A leading European engineering and construction specialist is seeking an experienced Planner to join a major data centre project in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.


This contractor delivers complex, high-value engineering projects across hyperscale data centres, enterprise technology campuses, advanced technology, life sciences, and fire protection sectors throughout Europe.
 

As Planner, you will take full ownership of project planning functions, ensuring programme certainty from pre-construction through commissioning and handover. You will play a critical role in maintaining schedule integrity, analysing performance, managing risk, and supporting commercial and contractual processes.
 

This is a key position within a high-performing delivery team on a flagship European project.


Key Responsibilities

• Full responsibility for planning across a project or portfolio (regional/sectoral)
• Develop and maintain detailed schedules for pre-construction, construction, and commissioning phases
• Ensure compliance with Planning SOP and company governance standards
• Report into both Planning Department and Project / Business Unit leadership
• Maintain and update progress databases and programme trackers
• Produce milestone projections and conduct delay / float path analysis
• Implement and manage Earned Value Management (EVM) systems
• Monitor schedule performance, productivity, and critical path activities
• Conduct regular site progress audits and verification reviews
• Attend and lead schedule coordination meetings with client and subcontractors
• Prepare tender programmes and bid schedules
• Develop manpower histograms and resource planning forecasts
• Support weekly workface planning and short-term lookahead systems
• Resource load and cash load schedules
• Provide programme data to support payment applications and valuations
• Prepare contract review reports and risk assessments
• Track and record delay, disruption, and variation impacts
• Assist in preparation of claims and provide contractual support data
• Ensure accuracy and quality control of all planning documentation
• Provide planning leadership and mentoring where required
• Deputise for Planning Manager or Project Planner as needed


Essential Criteria

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in planning large-scale construction projects
• Proven experience on mission-critical, data centre, pharma, or industrial projects preferred
• Strong proficiency in Primavera P6, Earned Value Management, and Excel
• Excellent understanding of construction sequencing and methodologies
• Capable of building fully logic-linked programmes from drawings, models, and scopes of work
• Experience managing large-scale project planning with minimal supervision
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
• Clear communicator, confident in client-facing environments
• Ability to work to strict deadlines in fast-track environments
