Mechanical Lead

Our client is a multi-disciplined main contractor operating across the UK and Europe with a turnover of €750m and sustained annual growth of 5%–7.5%. They deliver large-scale, turnkey projects for blue-chip clients, with a strong focus on data centres and other technology-heavy developments.
Due to a recent project win, our client is now seeking an experienced Mechanical Lead to take responsibility for the delivery of the mechanical scope on a major data centre project in Frankfurt, Germany. This is a senior leadership position overseeing complex mechanical packages on a technically demanding, fast-paced scheme.

The Role
Reporting to the Project Director / MEP Lead, the Mechanical Lead will have overall responsibility for planning, coordinating, and delivering the mechanical works from design development through installation, commissioning, and handover. Key responsibilities include:
•    Leading the delivery of all mechanical systems across the project
•    Managing mechanical subcontractors and specialist suppliers
•    Overseeing mechanical design development and technical compliance
•    Ensuring works are delivered in line with programme, quality, and safety requirements
•    Coordinating closely with electrical, CSA, and commissioning teams
•    Managing interfaces, technical queries, and design change
•    Providing technical input to procurement and commercial teams
•    Driving progress, resolving issues, and reporting to senior project leadership
•    Supporting testing, commissioning, and client handover activities

Requirements
•    Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
•    Extensive experience delivering mechanical packages on large-scale projects
•    Strong background in data centres, mission-critical, pharma, or highly serviced environments
•    Proven leadership experience managing subcontractors and site teams
•    Excellent technical knowledge of HVAC, cooling, and associated mechanical systems
•    Strong understanding of health & safety and quality management systems
•    Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
•    Willingness to be site-based in Frankfurt (rotational or expat basis)
