Senior Quantity Surveyor

Our client is a €1bn turnover Tier 1 main contractor operating across the UK, Ireland, and Europe. They deliver major, complex construction projects with a particular emphasis on Data Centres, Distribution Centres, and large-scale commercial builds.

Role Overview:
As part of their ongoing expansion across mainland Europe, the company is now seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a new-build hyperscale data centre project in Portugal.

This is a key site-based role responsible for the full commercial management of the project — from procurement and contract administration through to final account. The successful candidate will play a central role in ensuring cost control, value optimisation, and financial compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Manage all commercial and contractual aspects of the project from pre-construction through to completion.
•    Prepare, review, and negotiate subcontract and supplier packages.
•    Monitor project budgets, costs, and cash flow to ensure accurate financial reporting.
•    Provide regular cost value reconciliations and forecasts to the Commercial Manager and Project Director.
•    Work closely with project teams to identify and manage risks, variations, and change control.
•    Prepare interim valuations, progress applications, and final accounts.
•    Support procurement strategy, tender analysis, and contract award recommendations.
•    Liaise with client representatives, consultants, and subcontractors to maintain strong working relationships and achieve project objectives.

Key Requirements:
•    Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor on large-scale construction projects, ideally data centres or similar high-value industrial builds.
•    Strong knowledge of construction contracts (NEC or FIDIC experience advantageous).
•    Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
•    Ability to manage multiple work packages and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
•    Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.
•    Previous experience working on major European projects is highly desirable.

Package:
In return, our client can offer a basic, plus car, accommodation, bonus, and full package.
This is a permanent role based in Portugal, whilst they can offer accommodation, they are NOT offering the role on a rotational basis
