Senior Electrical Engineer – London – Major Commercial Project

A well-established and expanding M&E contractor is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to take a technical leadership role on a major commercial project in London.

This is a key site-based position that will suit a professional with strong experience in electrical building services engineering within complex construction environments. You will be responsible for overseeing design coordination, installation quality, and delivery assurance across a range of electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and review of method statements, risk assessments, and safe systems of work for complex electrical activities.
• Prepare and approve technical documentation including capital cost estimates, material take-offs, procurement schedules, and construction-phase design reviews.
• Liaise with design consultants and resolve technical issues via the RFI system; ensure solutions are practical, code-compliant, and aligned with programme timelines.
• Drive progress tracking, reporting, and the production of weekly progress updates and look-ahead schedules.
• Conduct site-based inspections and ensure strict adherence to quality control procedures, installation standards, and client specifications.
• Take ownership of QA/QC deliverables including test plans, commissioning readiness, snagging, and close-out documentation.
• Act as a technical advisor for subcontractors and junior engineers, ensuring delivery is consistent with design intent and best practice.
• Manage document flow and ensure all drawings, specifications, and approvals are kept current and accessible.

Candidate Profile:

• Degree-qualified or time-served electrical engineer with 7+ years' experience in construction or MEP project environments.
• Strong technical understanding of LV distribution, containment, lighting, fire alarm, and life safety systems.
• Proven track record of leading electrical engineering packages on large-scale commercial or mixed-use projects.
• Demonstrated ability to manage design coordination, site-based engineering challenges, and multi-disciplinary collaboration.
• Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
• Familiar with British Standards, BS 7671, and UK health & safety and compliance frameworks.
