Our client is a new player in the European Data Centre market. They are part of a parent company based in the USA and have grown rapidly through acquisition over the last few years and now operate 50 different sites across Europe. The organisation is still in acquisition mode, and they are about to add a further 10 sites to their portfolio with ongoing talks for others that may come to fruition over the next 12-18 months.
Our client is about to embark on upgrades, improvements, refurbishments, and extensions to their existing portfolio and is now seeking a Project Manager to join the team. The role will be covering their projects across their portfolio in Sweden. This role can be based primarily from home, office, or hybrid (whichever suits you best) but it will require some travel to sites.
The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of projects within the organisation. The role of the Project Manager is to take full ownership and responsibility of all elements of the project management process, from inception through to implementation, delivery, and final sign off. Working with the rest of the project team, all projects are required to be driven through and in accordance with demand and project management process, to agreed timescales, budgeted costs, and the required quality standards.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience of upgrade/ refurbishment projects within an occupied ‘live’ environment, rather than purely new build experience.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements:
Working closely with Senior Project Manager & Project Director, you will develop detailed project plans, schedules, and milestones, ensuring alignment with client requirements and regulatory standards.
Monitor project budgets, including cost estimation, financial tracking, and forecasting.
Lead and manage multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, contractors, and subcontractors making sure all team members are aligned with project objectives and responsibilities.
Serve as the main point of contact for clients, project teams, and key stakeholders maintaining effective communication and relationships.
Promote a safety-first culture on-site and ensure that risk assessments and method statements are followed and confirm that all site activities adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Manage contract agreements with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to project specifications, timelines, quality standards and handle any contractual issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
Implement quality management procedures verifying all construction and installations comply with technical specifications, industry standards, and client expectations.
Proactively identify potential risks, bottlenecks, and issues that could impact the project and develop & implement solutions to resolve issues and keep the project on track.
Assist in procurement activities for equipment and materials to guarantee timely delivery and avoid project delays.
Provide regular progress reports to Project Director and relevant senior management and the clients, including updates on project status, financial performance, risks, and issues.
Prepare accurate and updated documentation ready for review or submission to senior management.
Prepare, submit, and track of all necessary change controls.
Responsible for ensuring completion of final commissioning with support from specialist teams (external or internal) prior to handover to Operations Team.
Preparation of snagging lists and management of closing out of items.
Formal handover to the Operations team at project completion.
Manage the external consultants and third-party supply partners required to deliver the project.
Obtaining quotes from 3rd parties and raising internal purchase requisition.
Ability to travel, including overnight stays for onsite meetings when required.
Any other reasonable task related to the role given by your line manager.
Significant years of experience as a Project Manager working within a critical environment with focus on Data Centre projects is desirable.
Proven track record of working in a “Live Environment”.
Demonstrable experience in managing budgets, financial tracking, and delivering projects to client satisfaction.
Good working knowledge of MS Office and MS Project.
Able to understand, manage, and track project schedules and demonstrable change management skills.
Experience in a technical trade qualification in engineering (critical environments or other sectors) is desirable.
Excellent communication skills with ability to engage effectively with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions in high-pressure situations with ability to address and resolve technical, contractual, and logistical issues.
