Mechanical Lead – Hyperscale Data Centre – Sweden

 

An established European contractor delivering high-spec data centre builds across the Nordics is seeking a Mechanical Lead to take the reins on mechanical delivery for a major hyperscale project in Sweden.

 

Renowned for its precision execution and technical depth in the mission-critical space, this contractor offers the opportunity to play a key leadership role on one of the region’s most complex and high-profile builds.

 

This is a site-based, full-time position ideal for a mechanically driven professional with proven leadership experience in data centres or similarly demanding environments.

 

Your Role:

  • Take ownership of all mechanical systems installation, including chilled water networks, CRAC units, ducting, ventilation, fuel, and drainage systems.
  • Drive coordination between subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and internal delivery teams.
  • Review and verify mechanical designs, installation drawings, and technical submittals to ensure compliance with client and project specifications.
  • Oversee installation progress, quality assurance, snagging, and documentation workflows.
  • Support the commissioning team with system flushing, pressure testing, and performance validation.
  • Manage daily on-site activities and maintain strong collaboration with electrical, civil, and commissioning functions.
  • Champion health, safety, and quality protocols across all site operations.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Background in mechanical engineering, building services, or trade certification.
  • At least 5 years of experience leading mechanical works on large-scale construction or data centre builds.
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC, BMS, chilled water, fire suppression, and mechanical systems integration.
  • Track record of managing subcontractors and overseeing technical installation packages.
  • Prior experience in mission-critical or highly regulated environments is essential.
  • English fluency required; experience working in the Nordics preferred.
  • Open to relocation or already based in Sweden – accommodation and travel support available.
