Logistics Manager – Data Centre Project, Newport On Offer:
An established engineering contractor delivering complex data centre builds across the UK is looking to appoint a Logistics Manager for a permanent role on a high-value project in South Wales. This position is key to ensuring efficient site logistics, from managing delivery schedules to coordinating site storage and supporting daily construction operations.
This long-term opportunity is ideal for a logistics professional experienced in coordinating large-scale projects with multiple stakeholders and working under tight spatial constraints. You'll work closely with site teams, subcontractors, and security to ensure smooth material flow and resource allocation across the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all site storage areas and allocate space based on evolving project priorities.
Coordinate and monitor all deliveries, using a digital booking system to streamline logistics.
Liaise with subcontractors and security to facilitate controlled and timely access to site.
Manage holding areas and call-off systems to reduce congestion and avoid delays.
Monitor plant availability and coordinate the use of vertical transport systems such as hoists and cranes.
Attend and contribute to weekly logistics coordination meetings, ensuring agreed actions are implemented.
Act as the primary interface between perimeter security and internal material movements.
Requirements:
Background in construction logistics with 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
Site experience across large-scale commercial or data centre builds preferred.
Strong coordination, communication, and team leadership skills.
Familiarity with delivery scheduling systems and on-site resource management.
First Aid certified and confident in leading site logistics in fast-paced environments.
Knowledge of construction plant operations and site safety regulations.
Experience managing storage and delivery in live construction environments with tight access controls.
