HR Legal Compliance Officer - Oslo, Norway

We are partnered with a leading contractor looking for a qualified local HR Legal Compliance Officer to join a highly skilled international team. As HR Legal Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that the company adheres to all employment-related laws and regulations including monitoring labour compliance, overseeing safety and health standards, managing employee relations, and handling legal risk management specific to the Data Centre projects. This role will be based in Oslo and will include occasional travel when needed. The ideal candidate will have a good background in the construction industry and have experience of working in an international environment. 

Key Responsibilities & Requirements: 

  • Ensure the company complies with federal, state, and local labour laws and monitor changes in employment laws, union agreements, and collective bargaining agreements that affect the construction industry. 

  • Serve as a liaison between workers and managers to maintain positive labour relations. 

  • Develop and maintain HR policies, employee handbooks, and compliance-related materials tailored to the construction industry. 

  • Implement policies that promote inclusion, diversity, and fairness in hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions. 

  • Maintain accurate records of employment contracts, certifications, licences, and compliance documentation. 

  • Perform regular compliance audits across job sites and HR practices, ensuring legal adherence. 

  • Prepare reports for senior management on the company’s legal compliance status, potential risks, and any required corrective actions. 

  • Work closely with the HR and Compliance team, regulatory agencies, and labour authorities to resolve compliance issues. 

  • Degree in Human Resources with emphasis on the law or compliance. 

  • 8+ years of experience as HR Compliance Officer, preferably within the construction or related industries. 

  • Data Centre experience is beneficial. 

  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws within construction. 

  • Proven experience within HR compliance and legal work in Norway. 

  • Strong knowledge of GDPR and international experience. 

  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with legal teams and regulatory bodies. 

  • Effective communication skills and ability to train and educate staff on compliance matters.
