We’re looking for a bold and experienced Head of SHEQ to join the growing leadership. You’ll lead strategy, drive compliance, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with our operational teams, directors, and supply chain to make sure we don’t just tick boxes — we raise standards across the board.
• Set the tone from the top — chair H&S committee meetings and embed a culture of continuous safety improvement.
• Develop, refine, and enforce SHEQ systems, risk assessments, and safe work practices across all sites.
• Oversee incident investigations, generate detailed reports, and ensure close-out of all actions.
• Lead on HRB regulation policies and support bid teams with SHEQ input for tenders.
• Maintain all industry accreditations (ISO 45001, CHAS, Constructionline, BSC, etc.).
• Deliver monthly performance reports for the board.
• Own and manage ISO 14001 accreditation and ensure Site Waste Management Plans (SWMPs) are in place and up to date.
• Conduct audits of waste suppliers and environmental performance across all projects.
• Drive sustainability initiatives and best practices from design to delivery.
• Maintain ISO 9001 certification and oversee quality audits on all active sites.
• Lead initiatives to continually raise the quality bar — from pre-construction through to handover.
• Keep our workforce sharp and compliant — manage all internal and external training records.
• Ensure every team member and site manager is fully certified and fit for purpose.
• Support subcontractor training needs and drive a learning-first culture.
• Chartered Member of IOSH (essential).
• NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
• Deep knowledge of UK H&S law and a sharp understanding of how it applies on real-world construction sites.
• Strong leadership skills — able to influence at every level, from the boardroom to the building site.
• Track record of SHEQ leadership in a main contractor setting (multi-site experience essential).
