Our client is a specialist data centre main contractor delivering a full turnkey solution on New Build Data Centre projects across Europe, covering civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical and commissioning works. Group turnover is already in excess of €1.5bn and their order book is full for the next 3-years.
The Design Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating the design process across all disciplines, ensuring that design solutions are fully coordinated, technically compliant, commercially viable, and aligned with project programme and client requirements.
• Manage and coordinate the full design lifecycle from concept through construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all design-related matters, liaising with internal teams, consultants, subcontractors, and the client.
• Ensure full coordination and integration of CSA and MEP design packages.
• Review and manage design deliverables to ensure compliance with employer’s requirements, statutory regulations, and project specifications.
• Drive design programme alignment with construction sequencing and procurement strategies.
• Chair design coordination meetings, workshops, and technical reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage design change control processes, assessing technical, programme, and cost impacts.
• Support procurement by reviewing technical submissions, RFIs, and value engineering proposals.
• Coordinate design inputs for commissioning, testing, and handover documentation.
• Ensure Health & Safety is embedded into the design process, in line with CDM and local regulatory requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Design Management role within the construction sector.
• Previous experience delivering data centre, pharmaceutical, or other mission-critical projects is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of CSA and MEP design coordination.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
