Associate Fire Engineer – Commercial – Birmingham We are currently partnering with a globally recognised construction consultancy with a proven track record in a variety of industries. They have a healthy pipeline of works for years to come and due to continued growth are now seeking an experienced Associate Fire Engineer to join their team in Birmingham to aid with various commercial construction projects. Lead the development of fire strategies for commercial projects from concept to completion, ensuring designs comply with current fire safety regulations and support architectural and MEP coordination.
• Client-Facing Technical Leadership:
Act as the fire safety lead for clients and design teams. Provide expert advice on fire protection, means of escape, passive and active systems, and support stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
• Code Compliance & Regulatory Liaison:
Ensure projects meet relevant codes and standards (e.g. Approved Document B, BS 9999, BS 7974). Liaise with Building Control, fire authorities, and third-party reviewers to secure approvals and resolve compliance issues.
• Team Management & Mentorship:
Support the management of junior fire engineers and technicians. Oversee workload distribution, technical development, and contribute to growing the consultancy’s fire engineering offering.
• Project Oversight & Reporting:
Monitor fire engineering input across multiple projects, ensuring quality, consistency, and timely delivery. Prepare technical reports, risk assessments, and fire strategy documentation for planning and construction phases.
Must have previous consultancy experience on commercial construction projects
Must have 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
