Job Title: Estimator PURPOSE To compile estimates on how much it will cost to provide a client or potential client with the supply of products and services offered by the Company. To calculate how much a project is likely to cost and create budgets accordingly. To assist the Sales Director with the training and mentoring of junior members of the team. Duties and Responsibilities Examine and analyse tender documentation in order to prepare time, cost, materials and labour estimates Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops Consult with clients, suppliers, personnel in internal departments and site personnel to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues Confer with relevant personnel on changes and adjustments to cost estimates Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organising and scheduling work Produce analytically priced Bill of Quantities Prepare Preliminaries Prepare estimates for use in selecting suppliers or subcontractors Review material and labour requirements to decide whether it is more cost effective to produce or purchase components Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals throughout the duration of the project Conduct relevant reviews to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction Establish and maintain the tendering process and conduct negotiations Ensure effective handover of tender to construction team Maintain knowledge of current market trends, practices and products Ensure all sensitive and confidential information is held and communicated in accordance with the Data Protection Act Complete all administration tasks in a timely, accurate and legible manner Work without supervision Demonstrate a commitment to own personal development within the role Person Specification Good communications skills Good organisational skills Efficient and well organised Self-motivated and able to use initiative Ability to work without supervision Ability to demonstrate a commitment to own personal development within the role An interest in the business Qualifications & Experience The following are required: To be suitable for this role you will need to have either a degree level qualification in commercial management, or significant experience of estimating in the industry. GCSE English (or equivalent) GCSE Maths (or equivalent) Excellent arithmetic skills Good knowledge and experience of using MS Office, Excel, Project and Word, and the sue of Conquest Estimating Software would be advantageous Experience of Estimating in Construction Management Experience of managing budgets and plans The ability to read and understand technical drawings and understand technical drawings and architects plans and interpret their content and technical specification -
