Senior Engineer

Our client is a €1bn turnover Tier 1 main contractor operating across the UK, Ireland, and Europe. They deliver major, complex construction projects with a particular emphasis on Data Centres, Distribution Centres, and large-scale commercial builds.

Role Overview:
As part of their continued growth across mainland Europe, the company is now seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join the delivery team on a new-build hyperscale data centre project in Portugal.
This is a key site-based position responsible for overseeing structural, concrete, and general civil engineering works during the construction phase. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring quality, safety, and technical excellence throughout the delivery of major structural packages on this high-profile project.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Oversee and manage all aspects of structural and civil engineering works, including reinforced concrete frames, substructures, drainage, and external works.
•    Support the Site and Project Managers in the planning, coordination, and delivery of engineering activities.
•    Ensure that works are delivered in compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and health and safety requirements.
•    Conduct setting out, surveying, and quality inspections for key structural elements.
•    Coordinate with design teams, subcontractors, and the client to resolve technical issues and maintain progress.
•    Review drawings, specifications, and method statements to ensure buildability and accuracy.
•    Maintain detailed records of progress, quality checks, and engineering documentation.
•    Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement across the site team.

Key Requirements:
•    Proven experience as a Senior Engineer or Section Engineer on large-scale building or civil engineering projects.
•    Strong technical background in concrete structures, substructures, and general civil engineering works.
•    Excellent understanding of setting out, quality control, and construction sequencing.
•    Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
•    Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractors, coordinate interfaces, and maintain programme.
•    Previous experience working on major data centre, industrial, or commercial projects is highly desirable.
•    Strong communication and leadership skills, with a commitment to safety and quality.
