Project Manager – Civils 

Groundworks & Civil Engineering, Data Centre, Vienna, Austria

Our client is a leading groundworks and civil engineering contractor delivering major construction packages for hyperscale data centre projects across Europe. Specialising in complex earthworks, foundations, and underground services, they are responsible for technically challenging packages from design through to completion.
They are now seeking an experienced Project Manager to support the delivery of the €75m groundworks and underground services package for a major data centre project in Vienna.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support the delivery of the groundworks and civil engineering scope, ensuring works are executed safely, on time, and to specification.
• Coordinate day-to-day site operations, including excavation, piling, foundations, drainage, utilities, and underground services installations.
• Liaise with the client, design teams, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and progress, addressing technical or operational issues as required.
• Assist in reviewing method statements, risk assessments, and technical submissions for compliance with project requirements.
• Implement and monitor QA/QC procedures on site to ensure works meet quality standards and specifications.
• Support HSE management by ensuring all site activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Maintain project documentation, prepare progress reports, and highlight risks, delays, or issues to senior management.
• Assist in programme management, resource allocation, and coordination of interfaces across civil and MEP works.

Requirements:
Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent site-based experience.
Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in project management or site management of groundworks, civil engineering, or underground services projects.
Experience on industrial or data centre projects is highly desirable.
Knowledge of civil engineering methods, underground utilities, and construction processes.
Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
Knowledge of QA/QC processes, risk management, and HSE requirements on large construction projects.
Fluency in English; German language skills are advantageous.
