MEP Lead Project Manager

Data Centre Project, Helsinki

Our client is a leading project management consultancy providing client-side advisory and project delivery services for large-scale data centre developments across Europe. They support clients through all phases of the project lifecycle, including design review, procurement oversight, construction monitoring, commissioning, and handover.

They are now seeking an experienced MEP Lead Project Manager to provide client-side project management for a major data centre project in Helsinki.

Key Responsibilities:
• Act as the primary MEP interface for the client, overseeing all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing aspects of the project.
• Provide strategic leadership and technical guidance to the client’s project team, ensuring MEP design and construction align with project objectives.
• Review and coordinate MEP designs, submittals, IFC drawings, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with specifications and industry standards.
• Monitor contractor performance, including progress, quality, safety, and adherence to programme requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections and provide technical oversight, identifying risks or issues and recommending solutions to the client.
• Manage design queries, RFIs, and change requests, ensuring accurate documentation and timely resolution.
• Coordinate commissioning and handover activities, ensuring all MEP systems meet operational and performance requirements.
• Maintain a design and construction risk register, providing proactive recommendations and mitigation strategies to senior client stakeholders.
• Chair regular project coordination and progress meetings with the client, contractors, and consultants.
• Support the client in reviewing contractor quality plans, QA/QC procedures, and compliance with LEED or sustainability requirements where applicable.
• Provide detailed progress reports, cost monitoring updates, and highlight key MEP risks and mitigation plans to the client’s management team.

Requirements:
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 10+ years of experience in MEP project management or engineering leadership on large-scale or hyperscale data centre projects.
Proven experience in client-side or consultancy project management roles, overseeing contractors and multidisciplinary design teams.
Strong understanding of technical design, installation standards, commissioning, and QA/QC procedures.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and coordination skills.
Experience with BIM, project collaboration platforms, and sustainability/LEED requirements is highly desirable.
