Our client is a leading international contractor delivering complex, large-scale construction projects across Europe. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and high-quality project delivery, the company operates across a wide range of sectors including commercial developments, advanced manufacturing, infrastructure, and mission-critical data centre facilities.
Due to continued growth within the data centre sector, our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join the delivery team on a major data centre project in Portugal.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of the mechanical package, ensuring delivery is achieved safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with senior management, MEP teams, subcontractors, and client representatives, the Mechanical Project Manager will play a critical role in driving project performance from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.
The successful candidate will work closely with project directors, commercial teams, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure all mechanical works are planned, coordinated, and executed in line with project objectives, programme requirements, and contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the full mechanical scope on a large-scale data centre project in Portugal
• Oversee planning, coordination, and execution of all mechanical systems from design through to commissioning and handover
• Manage mechanical subcontractors, ensuring performance, quality, and programme targets are achieved
• Work closely with commercial teams to monitor budgets, control costs, and manage variations
• Develop and maintain detailed project programmes, tracking progress against key milestones
• Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with design specifications, contracts, and regulatory requirements
• Oversee installation of key mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water systems, CRAH/CRAC units, piping, and associated infrastructure
• Liaise with client representatives, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
• Identify and mitigate project risks, resolving technical and operational challenges effectively
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards across all mechanical activities
• Lead progress meetings, reporting on performance, risks, and key deliverables
• Support testing, commissioning, and final handover of mechanical systems
• Drive a high-performance culture focused on safety, quality, and delivery excellence
